The H. Berthold Typefoundry, renowned for crafting high-quality typefaces, was founded in 1858 by Hermann Berthold in Berlin. Among being responsible for Akzidenz-Grotesk (released 1896) and considered by many as the mother of all sans serifs, it happens to be that The Berthold Typefoundry is also responsible for the first type specimin–introdocing what is considered as the first modern Hebrew typeface: Frank-Rühl, design by Rafael Frank in 1920.
This tee is a tribute both to the actual distributing type foundry and the font itself. The front design introduces an adaptation of the books cover with gothic Hebrew lettering and Art Nouveau ornaments with post William Morris Kelmscott_Press ornaments and bookbinding style.
