David Melchior was a print manager (aka print producer) that worked in Israel from the mid-’70s to the late ‘90s. In the late ‘80s, David partnered with Jeremy Richman to create the Visual Communication Guide 1989-1990. The book was a professional index for visual communication, a form of Yellow Pages with individual pages of double spread for each professional divided into categories (photographers, graphic designers, advertising agencies, etc). The book is a time capsule commemorating the professionals who operated in the local scene.

The design incorporates a reproduced double spread David had created to advertise his print management business; In the image, he’s holding a Gerbera flower, standing with his body facing sideways, emphasizing his belly above the typography written with “Haim Condensed” on an arched path says: “David Malichior, big print manager.”

David Malchior, born in 1954, was a communication graduate. David was an associate partner in an advertising agency. Later, he specialized in marketing and reselling Hiedenberg offset machinery and other print-associated machinery, allowing him to become a print manager later. David worked with clients like the Israeli Export Institution, Knesset Israel, Nice, Cisco, independent designers, and tech companies. Died in 2003. We have gotten permission to use the design from Ofra Malchior, David’s widow.
